Approach

I am trained as a journalist.

While I don’t consider myself a news reporter by the strictest of definitions, I do carry the core values I learned in graduate school into all of the work I produce.  I want to be honest.  I want to dig deeper than what’s simply on the surface, and I want to be as unobtrusive as possible.

With that said, my first goal in my wedding work is not to tell a story.  No, when I present a collection of images back to you from your wedding day, I mainly want one thing for you.

I want you to FEEL.

I want you to feel the excitement, the nervousness, the joy, the love – even the exhaustion that comes at the end of the night after you’ve celebrated with all of your friends and family.  If I do my job well and focus on creating images that will stir your emotions, it’s only natural that a story will follow.

In order for this to happen, we need to make your day as relaxed and natural as possible.  The more you embrace the emotions of your wedding day, the more I can reflect them in the images I create for you.  It takes time.  And trust.  And collaboration.  You can’t force real emotion.  The best you can do is make sure you are present when it reveals itself.
